SALLY HELLER:

MIND OVER MAYHEM

Fall 2018

Sally Heller hung this installation in the Newcomb Gallery of Tulane University during the fall of my fifth year. I met her early in the process and volunteered to help with the installation. What came next was two weeks of dedicating all of my free time to stapling nets into drywall and tying together sequined scarves and caution tape.

The whole process of assembly was very free and intuitive, often with something that had been hung days ago being removed and disassembled because it no longer "felt right." Sally gave me and the other volunteers complete control in placing the elements as long as we could defend our decisions and were flexible to inevitably changing them when something new was added.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such an interesting artist and I hope to do so again in the near future.
